PERIL!!!!!! (GOLDEN GUARD OC!!!)

THE OWL HOUSE IF YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!

IF YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT TOH!!! the show is set in the demon realm, a magical dimension that exists alongside the human one. In the demon realm there are these creatures called palismen which are basically witch familiars and this is very important in regards to my daughter.

ALSO ITS RULED BY THE WORST GUY EVER (EMPEROR BELOS) who is actually secretly a centuries old, sustaining himself by Eating Palismen, human who wants to kill all witches (everyone there) (he's a witch hunter) ermmm so. He's also been creating clones of his dead brother (WHO HE MURDERED) and killing them one at a time, over and over and over again. for like a century. These clones (grimwalkers) usually act as the golden guard, which is like the emperor's right hand. AND THIS IS WHAT PERIL IS!!!! so as you can see. shes off to a Great Start. There's nothing fucked up in her life

OKAY SUMMARY OVER I PROMISE THAT WAS RELEVANT!!! peril is like way back from the canon timeline. so the only Big Character to know about is Belos. you will probably still get a bit confused though

MAIN BACKSTORY!!!

tw abuse and dehumaisation (and just anything hunter goes through)

Peril is a grimwalker from before canon, although the kingdom has been established. Because she's one of the earlier grimwalkers, she is a lot more creature-y (hence the wings and stuff) and also has the ability to turn into a palisman (a gyrfalcon to be exact) Because of this, she acts as the golden guard half the time and also as belos' palisman (hes not openly hunting them yet so it helps him fit in better).

In her palisman form she does a lot of sitting looking intimidating (shes much larger than a normal palisman) and flying around the isles gathering infomation, delivering messages. Her witch form she also does a lot of standing looking scary, and guarding. she also does a lot of patrols, gets palismen, arrests people, interogates people.. kills people. and anything else belos tells her to. golden guard stuff.Neither of her forms are very well liked.

So at this time, palismen are mostly only being taken off of criminals. And belos wants more. You know, to eat. So he has a little experiment to try to make palismen himself. renewable food source and all. But carving them isn't enough, you need to put hope and dreams and love and care and actually want a palisman to have it wake up. And there's no way he's doing that. He hates them.

I'm thinking maybe a palisman carver gets arrested for something or other, Peril does it. And so a bunch of unawakened ones get taken by the emperor's coven.

Similar to how Belos forced glyph magic out of the Titan, he tries to figure out a way to artificially wake a palisman up. Which works eventually!!! However he didn't understand the bond that comes with having a palisman? Or didn't mean for it to happen.

The bond isn't very strong, it's fake and very forced, definitely won't last. They have nothing in common, that bird was not meant for him. But for a brief moment he feels feelings that aren't his own and he's like Nope this is not a viable path and panics that he's infected his soul, that this creature has taken away a part of him (I need a reason for him to Not Do That Again). He ignores the fact he already has a curse and hundreds of palismen souls trapped inside of him.

For fear of damaging himself further he decides not to break Rue immediately and gets Peril to lock her up until he finds out a way to 'get his soul back' or whatever before he kills her.

So Rue is alive suddenly and she feels like she isn't supposed to be, like a part of her is missing. For a moment shes forcibly connected to a man she can immediately tell very much Does Not want her.

At first Peril a little cautious of Rue because of her link to Belos but also she both feel and hear this small little bird who is very upset who was just Created. Just like she was.

Belos, or peril as I don't think he would want to be near her, locks rue up somewhere (probably the grimwalker labs as its very secure there). He is quite paranoid and gets Peril to check on her occasionally. At first she does as she's ordered, and then she visits more frequently as she starts to care about the wellbeing of this miserable little owl trapped in a tiny cage. Usually she just sits there, in one of her forms, although sometimes she talks.

Despite how terrible everything is, Rue gets so happy when she visits which Peril can't understand because literlaly nobody has ever been happy to see her. Rue has seen exactly Two People in her life. Rue's connection with Belos, fades fairly quickly, although it takes him a while to be sure of it.

Whilst this is happening, Peril starts to question her life more, and starts to hate belos a lot more too. She wants to set Rue free, to find a safe place for her to go, which is how she stumbles across rumors of the Bat Queen through clumsily talking to a few palismen and witches. This is how she meets Ace, a fox palismen who belonged to a previous golden guard, Hope. (sort of reverse with old rue lore... meets them as a bird. Ace has suspicions that shes the golden guard but doesn't say anything, instead subtly trying to convince her to leave)

Eventually, Belos finds out just how frequently she's been visiting Rue and tries to get her to kill her to prove her loyalty to him. Peril panics, unable to do this, and takes Rue and runs from the coven.

They go to the Bat Queen, which Peril does mostly for Rue's benefit, wanting to give her a chance to make friends and experience the world because she's literally never Seen Grass Before. A life on the run would not do that.

Despite her plans of giving Rue a nice and peaceful life, there is no way Peril can just sit and stay still. She needs a purpose and so she makes it her mission to see Belos dead.So she starts to get involved with various rebel movements, feeding them information. She is Very Against Rue coming, but the little owl ends up following her anyway so shes like Okay Fine. (definately does not regret this later...)

All good things come to an end when Rue, desperate to help more, ends up making a mistake and getting found and tailed, resulting the the deaths of a bunch of palisman from Bat Queen’s sanctuary and Rue herself, who's left as a lovely!!!nice!!! warning for peril. Through this, The Bat Queen finds out who she is and exiles her, believing that she betrayed them.

Peril is. Not doing well. Even if bat queen hadn't exiled her, I don't think she could have brought herself to stay. All she can focus on is seeing Belos dead, because if she stops to think about her fear and grief for more than one second, she's scared she'll never get up again.

She finds out theres an infiltration planned on the castle from a group of wild witches.. or something similar and volunteers to be the distraction (she knows she'll probably die but she wants to go on a revenge quest and End Belos Forever) obviously this does not succeed!!! yeah he murders her. but the rebellion accomplishes the mission they were trying to do.

AND THATS MY DAUGHTER EVERYPONY!!! her backstory changes so often this gets updated like every week!!! if none of that made sense here are two helpful diamgrams that sum it up quicker!!!

A little bit on palismen in this au!!

Palismen sense emotion and intent (strongest from their witches but from others too!) which help them understand speech. They talk using a mix of scattered words and feelings which witches only pick up if theyre bonded to them. When a witch and palisman are bonded together, they become very connected with eachother, sharing feelings and intentions. Despite this, bonds can be broken and a palisman and a witch can drift apart over time.

Peril cannot pick up emotions and intentions of witches as easily as a normal palisman, but she does subconsciously do it (even if she doesnt notice this ability herself) This is one of the reasons she's so good at reading people and allowed her to more easily see through belos.

With palismen, she is able to understand them and pick up on any feelings they choose to show her. This is very fun when she has to watch belos eat them!!!! Similarly, in their wooden forms, she's can get vague feelings from them, but its a lot more muted. This stacks up when she walks into palismen storage and theres like 50 dormant palismen who don't know where they are, are really scared and probably mourning their witches!!

Peril is able to talk as a palisman but doesn't really know how to project her feelings on purpose (until rue she didnt really have anyone she could talk to as a falcon. even if belos wanted her to talk, he certainly can't understand her).

Despite her bond with palismen, it doesn't mean Peril likes them. In all honesty, they scare her, not because of wild magic, but because of the whole emotions and abstract feelings thing. Its very easy for them to see through her and Thats Scary!! Especially for someone who has built up of so many half lies and layers of anger.

Palismen see peril as being very odd. shes one of them but something feels strange about both her (and not just the shame, guilt and burning anger following her around) Likewise, no matter how much peril wants to fit in with them, she's not quite a palismen. and they struggle to understand her.

Another thing I think happens is that, because Peril can understand palismen, belos tries to get her to interogate the ones she takes of wild witches and criminals. You know, before he eats them. This is largely unsucessful. Sure Peril can understand them, but its not that easily communicatable, escpecially when the palismen are once again very lost, very scared and mourning their witches. They say words, but a lot of it is just feelings and stuff. Very desperate feelings directed at her because they can't understand why she'd be working with Him, she's one of them. She hardly gets anything useful and it makes her Feel Very Bad. This also kind of reinforces Belos' views that palismen are very simple creatures, no souls there. They're made of magic so he'd still think this either way (like how he justifies Killing All Witches) but its an easy way to justify. Eating Them. And this also leads him into creating Rue. Which he very qucikly regrets.

Rue the owl house!!!

RUE THE OWL HOUSE. Okay important thing to know about Rue is she isn't just like Peril's pet, she's family. Peril is older to the point that she's more like Rue's parent, but Peril does not like thinking about it that way, and they were both created by Belos so. Sisters. This is more to do with modern au, but their relatitionship is a mirror of phillip and caleb and this makes me ill.

Rue's whole thing with Belos is that she was bound to him artifically and he wants her dead and they have nothing in common and its kind of miserable. But (we know veryyy little about this but) Rue is kind of how I imagine Phillip was as a child and. Urghh. Yeah. I will yap about this in more detail in modern au section but yeah.

ANYWAY. Rue is a fairly timid bird, but shes also very curious on account for the fact she's never seen anything ever. She's easily scared by things, but not peril, which is very confusing to peril who sees herself as the second worst person alive. Rue knows this and always tries her very best to make peril happy. She likes it when her sister, is happy, peril being happy makes her feel happy (quite literally the emotions bounce back to her) which is very rare in the days when she was trapped in a cage for months.

She gets tired very easily partly maybe because of the way she was made. [figuring this out still. mighttt do some messed up curse stuff]

Peril is Rue's entire world. Even after they escape, Rue struggles to connect with any of the other palisman. Even if lots of them had been through things, she just feels very different and unbalanced, especially when Peril is away. She is both Extremely clingy so Peril won't leave and also trying very hard not to be, so that she won't be a burden.

Peril leaving her is actually. One of her biggest fears. Belos makes her very scared for lots of reasons. but a small part her worries that what if part of her is like Belos (he made her after all) and Peril will find out and hate her and leave her forver.

Rue so badly wants to be strong like Peril, so that she can help her, yes, but also out of fear of being left behind. She is very Powder arcane coded btw. In theory, she wants to want to take down Belos to make her sister proud and happy and safe but in actualality she is Terrified (honestly much like peril herself). It makes her sick because she knows that she was Made to love him. But he hates her and for so long all she could do was sit in her tiny cage and think about what she could possibly have done to make him love her. But also she didn't want him too, because she can Feel how he makes Peril feel and she doesn't want to be anything like him.

She also copies Peril in other ways, and unintentionly picked up quite a lot of Peril's mannerisms (which peril isn't a fan of). She's very quiet, but not afraid of violence. Peril does't typically like erm. beat people up in front of her, but they are on the run and Rue has been around her enough to be sort of desensitised to violence (again peril isn't a fan of this).

The word Rue means bitter regret and a wish for something to undone. WHICH IS KIND OF MESSED UP. CONSIDERING HER LIFE. Belos wouldn't have named her, and Peril wouldn't have either, or at least not that. I think she overhead Belos saying the word in passing (something something about how he "rues the fact he created such a creature") and Rue was like. Oh, me, that must be my name! And Peril doesn't say anything because she wouldn't want to take away this one descion Rue made for herself.

Peril feels a lot of guilt over Rue. For being the one who arrested her carver in the first place, and then letting her be locked up for months and months and not saving her until it was life or death. And of course her biggest regret, letting Rue join her when she started to get involved in rebellions. She wished she'd pushed her away, scared Rue off so she'd forget about peril and go make friends with actual palismen. That was the reason they went to the Bat Queen after all. She'd only just started to experience the world before she was killed.

Extra more rambly stuff!!

I mention it more below but the scar across her face was from the time belos tried to carve her ears so they looked human haha, as he did with his own, but she panic tranformed part way for the first time ever. Because of her usefulness in being able to act as his palisman he wasn't too pressed in trying to make her look human anymore. the injury effects her vision and her vision is much worse in that eye.

To begin with, peril is taught to hate her bird traits. (OKAY i dont know if she Actually knows about caleb. but if she does I think belos would have probably told her that she has bird traits because of calebs sinful corrupted soul (something he himself actually believes). and that she inherited that so there must be something Sinful in her too. meaning she has to work extra hard to make up for it. or something. However, as she starts to hate belos, she starts to hate herself as a witch instead.

Peril sees her two forms as seperate things. which isn't great! Not just because thats Bad for her mentally, but also because she has to shift between forms. Not shifting won't kill her (otherwise she'd be so dead after the long hours she spends standing or perched still guarding various places) but it feels awful, and causes her to have less control other her bird instincts. (haha not great when you spend most of your time with belos.)

Peril. Does Not. know how to live for herself.

True, she doesn't listen to many people. cant bring herself to care (other than Belos and sort of bat queen to a much lesser extend for rues sake) but she does not know what to do without a purpose. She lived for Belos, and when she couldn’t do that anymore she lived for Rue. And then when Rue died. Well.

After rues death, she did want revenge (the part of her that still felt anything but hatred for belos crumbled along with her sister), but more than that she wanted a purpose again. If she stopped being angry, if she thought more about Rue's death, about how scared she actually was to face Belos again, she thought it would break her forever. So she turned her fear into anger and it consumed her so much that she was scared of what would happen to her if she stopped. Who she would be, what she would do.

THIS IS similar in straybirds (au i have written a lot about further below) in that. she lived for Belos, and then for her siblings and then when she felt they didnt need her anymore she just kinda. spiralled into a deep depression. YAY!!! it's okay cause then she gets better.

Peril also does not see herself as a person, which does not help this. She's a witch, a palisman, a grimwalker (a brother) and her being seen as or physically being in any of these forms is for a purpose, not because she actually wants to be. She doesn't see her forms as part of her (doesnt even have a good sense of who she is really anyway) and so doesnt transform because she doesn't see the point if she doesn't have to. Which is harmful to her health

HOPE THE OWL HOUSE

HOPE (belonging to my good friend nex moth nextyrid batman) was a grimwalker quite before Peril who was friends with the Collector. Because they were an early grimwalker, their body didn't quite form correctly, leading them too look quite mannequin like, with wooden joints and the such. THIS LEADS TO, them not really ever rotting, and Peril finds them abandoned in the castle somewhen, although we are still figuring out how.

Hope's palisman was also Ace, the fox who Peril learnt about the Bat Queen through. STILL NOT SURE how much peril and ace knew about eachother, but ace definately knew that peril was the golden guard before she ran away, even if she only met them in her bird form.

NICHOLAS belonging to my other good friend broocks (guy who is really normal and fine about shadow the hedgehog btw), was the grimwalker directly after Peril. He was very involved in very unethical basilisk experiments until he and all of his research burnt to death.

Peril (knowing about the grimwalkers) was there whilst he was still growing. She's not very talkative, but sometimes she said things to them, not sure whether to feel proud or hate them or pity them or wish they never exsisted at all.

Although they don't ever properly meet, they are alive at the same time, Nicholas becoming the new golden guard after Peril runs away. Peril feels a kind of distant pity towards them, but doesn't have the time or energy or even want to talk to him (she couldn't save Rue, why would this go any different? Besides she knows where his alligences lie, the things he will do. Telling him about Belos would get him killed, but killing Belos would actually help him. She needs to focus on that.)

CLOVER also belongs to broocks!!! She is the basilisk nicholas was researching. CLOVER AND NICHOLAS MAKE ME. VERY. ILL BTW. you should read their toyhouses.

Peril was the one to capture Clover originally. Clover was fairly young when this happened and her (although not often) meetings with Peril made her suspect things about what was happening with the Golden Guards when she later met Nicholas.

Peril would not have been kind or merciful to Clover, early Peril despised her more wild traits and probably projected this onto Clover whilst later Peril would have pushed away her pity out of self-preservation for herself and Rue. Erm she didn't have time to care. So yeah, Peril defiantely had a part in Clover's hatred towards Nicholas and the Golden Guards in general.

In another life, (STRAYBIRDS AU BELOW YAYYY!!!!) they'd all be friends. Peril has Not A Lot of friends this is saying something.

Peril also has a scar from when clover bit her once yay!!

STRAY BIRDS AU!!!

SO IN ADDITION TO THE NORMAL TIMELINE!!!! there is also a modern au I made with some friends and their golden guard ocs. it's still very much being created but I will give a little summary...

THIS AU IS SET IN A UNIVERSE WHERE THERE'S NO DEMON REALM!!! however belos does still exist and surprise he's running a cult again. In addition to Peril, Cole (nicholas) and Hope are also there!!! THEY GET TO BE ALIVE AT THE SAME TIME!!!!! I have written a bit about them in the sections above I love them so much by the way

Okay so peril is still Belos' right hand in this and its horrible and terrible as in canon. SHE'S ALSO TASKED WITH TRAINING COLE who shadows her a lot of the time. at first she hates him... originally because why does she have to look after this small child, and then later because Cole is actually Really Good at things and she has worked her whole life to be where she is. She feels like shes training her own replacement.

HOWEVER EVENTUALLY SHE WARMS UP TO THEM. Although, it takes her a long time to realise. The first time she realised she cares, was when she ended up intentionally taking the blame for something Cole did, and was very confused why. And then she was like. Oh. But she's also scared to admit it so she just continues acting very cold and terrible to Nicholas which. Is Very Confusing for him. She sends a lot of mixed signals.

ANYWAY after she slightly gets over this and they realise some stuff, THEY END UP RUNNING AWAY TOGETHER. along with hope who was also in this cult. Now you may be wondering. what are they doing in this cult? what does this cult do? and so. yeah and something something witchcraft!!!! (we have no idea) (ERMM WE'LL GET THERE.) (im just treating it like the emperors coven but modern day. but she doesnt arrest people. because they're the ones getting arrested)

Things at first are very Bad. they don't actually know eachother that well and are walking on eggshells around eachother, just trying to get as far away from the cult as possible. then at some point someone takes pity on them and they're able to get terrible jobs... and eventually a terrible apartment. MOST OF THIS AU is them just trying to learn how to Live. All three of them have so many issues that they need to deal with which none of them are really equipped to deal with. they're very codependant. its bad. BUT ITS OKAY BECASUE IT DOES GET BETTER FOR THEM!! They also manage to get Belos arrested. unsure how. They're very untrustful and also have been trained to avoid the authorities. BUT IT HAPPENS!!!

I was about to say long peril ramble incoming but. that's just this entire page. uhm analysis of peril's mental state time!!!

in all aus peril has a tricky relationship with words (I'm sure its mentioned above somewhere) but I think sb!peril has the biggest issues. This is partly because she doesn't have the escape of expressing herself as a bird (she wishes she is one though), and also because Cole and Hope are there. And shes so so so scared of messing up with them.

peril knows exactly how to get what she (...belos) wants out of people. she knows how to interrogate, how to be scary, and how to manipulate someone to tell say what she wants. She's very analytical in a um cold detatched people way, rather than like Cole who can break down and figure out a stitution without snapping some guy's fingers!! These are skills that Belos taught her specifically and she hates it because it makes her feel like him everytime she speaks. like her voice isn't really her own. She does use her learnt ability to lie incredibly well back at him though so. yay for her. This leads her into saying very little, even before they leave.

She also has big issues contolling her anger (always angry. at herself, at belos, at the titan, at herself for thinking that, at belos for making her angry at herself. at the titan for his silence. around and around in circles forever). As in the cult she was very quiet unless she had to be, her anger would just kind of build up inside of her. and so, whilst usually she prided herself on her efficency, she still knew how to be cruel and sometimes was. having power over people made her feel like she had control over her life!!! yay! Before she ran away with them, she wouldn't have been the kindest to cole and hope either (which she feels endlessly guilty for) Her anger is more Cold and Vicious than explosive (although it can be). she knows how to say things that will Hurt.

After they leave (homeless arc) she really struggles to adapt and is still more of the old peril sometimes. quiet. but a cold, icy kind of quiet that makes you feel like you fucked up. she can get angry but this time its because shes scared of loosing control, of her siblings getting hurt. cole's talking too loud and she snaps at him or smth... ERM LIKE THAT ONESHOT I WROTE!!! and whereas before that would have kept them safe. here it does not.

even so its not until the time they get their terrible apartment, when they finally have some sembalance of safety, that she she starts to fall apart even more. Now that they're not actively fighting to survive on the streets, and belos isn't there to tell her what to do anymore, she really struggles to see the point in doing much of anything. She helped Cole and Hope get out but now what. (she doesnt think she deserves to be free) (sees herself as just as bad as belos) (shes so scared of fucking up. of scaring them even slightly, that she thinks they'll be better off if they just forget her)

and its not like she doesn't Try to get better either. part of her knows that she thinks that she's worse than she Actually is. but she just has no energy to do anything anymore. most days its a struggle to get up. she'll get halfway through a task and just. sit. on the floor. runs out of energy. (and distantly it scares her because this Never Used To Happen. but now she's trying to do things for herself and not belos it's sudenly impossible) she does try to hide that this happens from her siblings though because she thinks should be the one looking out for them, they have plenty of their own issues to work through without her being a problem. to be fair they're not really equipped to deal with her issues. and she's not equipped for theirs either (she knows how to break people not fix them) but guess what. all of them isolating themselves emotionally from eachother doesnt help!

Yeah but her siblings are what save her. Just them being there. If they weren't she would have taken even worse care of herself. she wouldn't have survived. or at least she wouldn't really be Living.

The bird sanctuary is the second thing that saves her. At some point, peril finds rue, injured and abandoned, and not really knowing what to do tries to take the fledgling home to heal her. This doesn't go well obviously and she instead takes her to the bird sanctuary where she visits the little owl so often that bat queen (who owns the places and is not. a ginat bat in this au crying) offers her a job there. Bat queen scares her at first because she's never really had to listen to someone other than belos. but it goes well and gives her a reason to leave the house. it doesn't pay that well but hope and cole convince her to continue with it because its so obvious to see the improvement in her. in a strange was she feels a kinship to the birds (bird therian peril real) and they like her in return. its more of a rescue, rehabilition place. helping injuried birds and if possible returning them to the wild. it does have a vistor side to it but she doesn't really ahve to deal with that. Maybe she meets eda through it too... owlbert is there and eda likes to visit him, maybe... editing this later

Music is the third thing. I don't know if she'd exactly be a part of a specific sub-culture but she's big into her edgy music, constantly listening to stuff. She doesn't really start playing anything until a bit later, (maybe eda introduces her to raine somehow... or maybe bq has an instrument laying around that she lets her mess around with) and its kind of hard to play stuff because her hands are a little bit shakey. But it gives her a new way to express herself, to be loud? in a way that she can be sure won't hurt anyone. im trying to decide if she'd sing anything. because at first i was like no. but now im not so sure. she definately wouldn't want to in front of an audience but hm. ill come back to this. SHE HAS BEEN TAUGHT BIRD CALLS by her bird friends. she can whistle different calls.

and even if later she does start to talk a bit more, be more open, she's still very quiet and she likes it that way. quiet but not invisbile. her presences is alwasy acknowleged even if she doesn't want to say a word. listening to cole yap about space or something. big on the stars that guy. ends up working as a space musuem tour guide

Fun details about this au which I can't fit chronologicallly!!!!

• Back with Belos, the only person she had to listen to was Him (and being terrible was encouraged and part of the job). So she'll follow Belos'every word without question, but everyone else. she just struggles to see the point in respecting their authority or even being particularly nice to them. LIKE SHE'S CIVIL but not particularly welcoming (bar like her siblings and a few other people she's close with)

• HOBBIES!!! she would probably like a lot of physical things. eventually. she'd be big on rollerskating and iceskating, maybe bouldering. She'd Hate Swimming. this is back to music but she would like the electic guitar and maybe the drums because it helps get her anger out in a Less Destructive Way. she's not too creative but she likes customising her clothes and has perfected her realistic bird portraits in her free time at the bird sanctuary

SPEAKING OF POKEMON

Peril's teams would be different depending on how a pokemon au would work. If she had a choice, i think she would just have one or two partner pokemon who she would be very close with, perhaps a flying or dragon type pokemon she could ride. But i'm going to talk about a potential team she could have anyway. (I ALSO think it would be fun in a pokemon au to make her a zoroark (literally gave sb!peril the hair), maybe she was raised human or is pretending to be human to fit in. sort of like N, though i can't remember too much black and white lore right now. ALTERNATIVELY ALTERNATIVELY, maybe a Pokemon au set in the boiling isles, where all palismen are pokemon)

• Talonflame - I also considered staraptor and corviknight as also options, although I don't think she'd own a corviknight natuarlly, unless she had it in her golden guard days, escaped with it ?

• Houndoom or Mightyena - THEY VERY MUCH FIT HER VIBE, especially mightyena. However Houndoom's pokedex entry, "If you are burned by the flames it shoots from its mouth, the pain will never go away." IS. YEAH.
  
  
• Shaymin - POSSIBLY RUE? she could also be a noctowl or maybe even a trapinch and later flygon. BUT i think cool lore stuff could be done with shaymin.
  
  

  Bounus note that Ace woudl be a fennekin, but she probably wouldn't have them on her team. ALSO the galarian zigzagoon line is so her core, but I don't think she'd have one.

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG AU

Originally I thought Peril would like shadow WHICH SHE WOULD but my friend showed me this metal comic and compared metal to Peril. WHICH WAS SO REAL AND TRUE and was also the thing that kickstarted my sonic phase. its embarrasingly easy to get me into things if Peril is involved its so bad.

SO YEAH she would relate to metal sonic a lot so au where she's a badnik. RUE would be a flicky, chao or also a badnik and I can see versions of all of these working. Somewhere along the line she defects, or gets too damaged to return and gets found by hit oc skorp hfth who takes her to mud hfth where she gets enough repairs to be functional again (maybeee one of my ocs crayon did this, removed some of the coding tying her to eggman).

When she's repaired enough (enough to move, she would not wait around there and so would not get fully repaired) she would leave with rue. I'm not sure if she would be driven by revenge much in this au. I Think instead she's a lot more like how I imagine her ghost (I've written a bunch about this in another section) tired, apathetic. Not really sure what she is, who she is, espiceially without her coding which filled her with so much burning anger and hate and not much else.

Her programming still gets in the way of a lot of things though, reminding her of a purpose uncompleted, which does still her angry, along with thoughts about eggman probably, but. I don't know, I can just imagine her lying with rue in a forest for days on end slowly getting more overgrown. She and Rue wouldn't be terribly social, maybe occasionally seeing skorp and friends, but not really having the energy for much alse. Maybe she grows more over time, maybe not. I wouldn't say she's unhappy watching the world go by.

Like metal, she can't talk, although her design does take a lot of neo metal sonic's elements.

TEH OTHER SONIC AU IDEA I HAVE IS, i saw this omega drawing where he fused with a flicky, and become half bird. and. yeah peril I would like to do something with this.

PERIL LIVES AU!!!!!

SHE GETS TO LIVE! giggling okay so everything is the same in this au except instead of killing her, Belos traps her in her wooden palisman form for like 80 years!!! and then maybe forgets about her. AND THEN SHE GETS FOUND AFTER THE EVENTS OF SEASON 3 (they find her around 5 or 6 months? after watching and dreaming) and she gets to meet all the characters and finally heal, learning to accept both parts of herself, which in the other timeline she never got to do... she really hated herself as a witch, especially towards the end.

IVE ACTUALLY BEEN WRITING THIS ONE AS AN ACTUAL FIC hopefully i'll write more. the first bit is all in Darius' pov WHICH IT WASNT'T MEANT TO BE? no idea how that happened. I don't think peril would even interact with him much so it makes not Much sense but IM REALLY PROUD OF IT SOOOO eveyrthing is fine THE STORY IS HERE!! if anypony wanted to read it. Well a chapter and a half anyway, that's as far as I will get for a While i think.

Anyway. so shes found and magiced back to normal (the cage she's found in is Rues old one, by the way) but she's still extremely injured (meaning she can't just go fly off into the wilderness because thats 100% what she'd do) and is forced to interact with people. she hates this but she does start to bond with people and, by Hunter's presence, is convinced to not just Disappear. Although as soon as she's well enough to be a palisman, she stays in that form as frequently as possible, at the start.

So I know this is supposed to be a happier au, but her wing never truly heals, and she loses the ability to fly. Which is like her one thing ever and actuallly destroys her.

She'd be very lost on what to do for a while (even if she had time Before where she was free from belos, a lot of her energy back then was going into survival, to not being found out by the Bat Queen or working with various rebellions). Peril is An Adult, she can live on her own (which she does do eventually!) but even after she recovers from her injuries, she has so much healing to do and so I don't think it would go very well. Rue is gone, she's in a different era, she can't go back to the Bat Queen and she also has No Idea how to look after herself as a witch after living as a bird for so long. And she needs to do that!! its very bad for her to stay in one for too long!! She does not know how to be a Person. she does try to disappear into the woods but. she can't just neglect half of herself. shes not actually just a bird she needs food and shelter. so they convince her to come back to the owl house. she'd stay there for a bit but I think it would be a little overwhelming for her for a long period of time. I mighttt let her stay with raine for a bit. She'd like that I think. whilst she figures out how to.. do. normal activities.

Eventually though, she'd end up a place of her own, not too far away, but not too close, in the woods. She's assist with the rebuilding efforts for a bit and then would help with the replanting of the palistrom trees. dell ends up with another grimwalker apprentice I guess. AND THEN... im not really sure. ill edit this later when i have more ideas just rambling here but maybe something with palismen... but as much as she Is One of them. and that they're easier to understand than witches. that doesnt mean she's really socaible and good friends with them.. she's too guilty HMMMM

anyway TIME TO YAP ABOUT HER RELAIONSHIPS TO ALL THE CHARACTERS

She of course bonds with Hunter (long lost siblings!). I was considering making it a harpy hunter au, but I think I won't considering I took away Peril's wings and I think that would be too cruel. She likes to hang out whilst he's carving palismen. She still hates speaking (although its less of a problem than in stray birds au as, whilst when she's upset she does talk like belos, most of the time her thoughts and speech are more palisman like, so thats the learning curve she's fighting in this one.) But yeah she's still good at lying and manipulating and also has anger issues which she knows and hates and thinks is worse than it actually is. This leads her into staying as a palisman more (also she feels safer in that form and kind of hates hersef as a witch) and saying as little as possible. Hunter eventually pins her down about this, talks aboout how he feels the same after belos possessed him and sometimes gets scared that he's not in control. yay!

RAINE WHISPERS!!! she's friends with raine (maybeee lives with them for a bit). They're the right level of energy for her. THEY ALSO TEACH HER AN INSTRUMENT!!! (still deciding which) But this really helps her express herself, despite her lack of words. she can't hurt people with music like she thinks she will with words (WELL SHE COULD WITH BARD MAGIC but she can't do that. this is Just Music)

GHOST??? AU???

Saw this super cute morningmark comic and IT MADE ME THINK ABOUT THE PREVIOUS GOLDEN GUARDS (as i often do) and then i got emotional because peril could have been there and this has made me think aboyt what she'd be like as a ghost and how she'd interact with hunter and her many siblings

OKAY WITH THE GOLDEN GUARDS theres various ways to do this. there's full ghosts like the comic, but ive also read fics where the ghosts are more like echoes? that hunter glimpses throughout his life in the castle (IF I FIND THE FIC ILL PUT IT HERE!!) and i've also read a few where they're in his mindscape which was very fun. I DONT REALLY AHVE A PROPER IDEA ON HOW THE GHOST GUARDS WORK but it doenst matter too much I jsut want to write random thoughts about my dead daughter.

In life, Peril was very very angry especially towards the end. But in death I think she'd just be tired. Apathetic. Because for all her anger she didn't manage to stop Belos, she didn't manage to change anything (she just got Rue killed). She'd been fighting and been angry for so so long and now that's gone she's just tired. Doesn't really know who she is without the anger... YAY!!!!

I also think this is fun because Moth said that Hope's ghost would probably be very vengeful and angry in death and I think this is a very fun switch around.

If the other guards were there she'd make friends with Hope, or Hope would make friends with her. maybe they'd teach her sign language. She'd probably be quite taken aback by Hope at first because theyre so sweet to her but also can turn incredibly angry and vengeful if Belos is mentioned. Peril's already been angry. Now she's just tired, wants to sleep. When he later burns to death (SORRY COLE) Nicholas would be bitter. devasted.

For a ghost au if she appeared to hunter. I think the guards would be more like the first option i said where theyre more like echoes... they wouldn't be able to talk and i also really like the idea that the ghost guards can't take off their masks because. peril would Hate This. or maybe she'd be too tired to care. She'd also be in her golden guard uniform, even though she didn't die in it and all the guards would probably have the wounds that killed them. I'll let her kee her wings and tail though. maybe she can still transform. (this version is what the drawing to the side is based around)

FUN FACTS!!!

• She was created to be about 16 or 17 (this is around the age sb!peril runs away) and dies in her mid 20s.
  
  
• SHE'S TRANS!!!!1!1!! She exclusively uses she/her pronouns but doesn't see herself as a woman either. She's a bird. Her idenity is not defined. I don't even know what gender is and she doesn't either. Neither does Rue. She completely stole Peril's pronouns, she doens't know whats happening. I do however think she particularly doesn't like being seen as a man because it reminds her of caleb,,. maybe. still figuring this out. SHES A BIRD!!!!!!!!!
  
  
• HER WARRIOR CAT NAME IS GOLDENFLIGHT!!! it used to be Hawkflight. The first part changes instead of the last part because i liked it better but also something about giving up her identity. Giggling and hunter's name is Goldenheart and later when he runs away he changes it to wildheart....
  
  
• She has a resting angry face. Part of this is because it just fits, but also birds of prey always look upset because of the shape of their faces and i think its funny if peril also looks pisssed off too.

• WOLFWALKERS AU. caleb fell in love with eveyln who was a wolfwalker. she turns him into one so he can join her pack and philip Does Not Love This!!! this au isnt set in the boiling isles and philip isnt emperor, he's a witch, or wolfwalker, hunter - travelling around and killing magical creatures. still not sure how peril is related to him, she still might be a clone. but either way in this au belos uses her to hunt down and kill other wolfwalkers. yay!!! ILL PROBABLY WRITE MORE ABOUT THIS AU LATER because i want to fit the rest of stray birds into it maybe...
  
  
• SHE CAN'T SWIM. hates water. Her feathers soak up water like a sponge and it makes her feel trapped. She and Rue are also really claustrophobic not sure if I mentioned that. I THINK sb!peril would like the rain though, but she still can't swim and isn't the biggest water fan in general.

The peril vibes mostly come from it relating to how she'd stuggle to live without belos, "unfortunately i am. My own dog, my own fur companion" and "every other day I'm wondering. what's a human being gotta be like?" In both versions, she stuggles a lot to function on her own and make her own descions... if it wasn't for Hope and Nicholas i think sb!peril would have maybe just Died. or at least she wouldn't have recovered, she'd just be in survival mode. forever!!!

She's always struggled with her personhood. firstly because she never saw herself one and also because toh!peril is Not Quite a witch and Not Quite a palismen and she struggles to find her place with either group "for human grossly underqualified, for canine grossly overqualified"

ANOTHER ARTIST THAT GIVES MAJOR PERIL VIBES NO MATTER THE SONG!!!! i'm actually working on an icicles animatic that may or may not ever get finished... But. Its Real.

This song is actually wild because I swear every line i could link to a moment in her life. i was searching for the albumn image to put here and immediately found angsty c!tommy fanart to it which tells you a lot about this song actaully

SO. SO. I LOVE HER SO DEARLY!!!! DONT KNOW IF YOU COULD TELL. I actually originally made her back in July 2024 around the time for artfight but for some reason Now is the time im super obsessed with her (its December 2024 as of writing this) GIGGLING if you go back to my rambling page of my website I know I have quite a bit on her old backstory there.

I HAVE ALSO written a bunch of really little oneshots with her. Putting this at the bottom because i'm so self conscious of my writing BUT IM ALSO REALLY PROUD OF THEM because i don't really write anything much ever. writing about her also brings me so much joy I should do it more i think. They're all on her toyhouse (along with her art) but here they are seperately. I gave them such dramatic titles it makes me giggle

• She's better - the yellow bird was a canary in this btw. because i was thinking about life series when i wrote it and also she should Leave!!! Now!!!! Immediately!!! i think this is the best one i wrote, proud of this one :D i love being insane about my one oneshot about my own oc.

I SORT OF animated it (and then gave up) but in the second half Hope appeared to see if she was okay but Peril wasn't able to say anything. okay so yeah peril does have issues controlling her anger but it's not as bad as she thinks it is. She feels so much responsibility to look after her siblings, even though she knows they're plenty capable, but she does't know how to act anymore and she's so scared of fucking everything up. so scared that she'll start acting like Belos. which is obviously not going to happen but she's so overwhelmed with guilt and shame over it all the time that it paralyses her and she struggles to anything. She spent so much time around him that it feels like his voice is always in her head and she hates it so much. LOVE YOU MY DAUGHTER!!!!
