MY SPACE BAG!!!! crayon (they/it) is a member of the Wayward Voyager and acts as the mechanic. sometimes. when it feels like it
HORRIBLE LONG PAST!!!!!!!
The closer you go to the edge of the universe, the more things start to unwind and break. Crayon's planet, Whilst not being too close too the edge where things start to get REALLY broken, was in a odd position (maybe something to do with wormholes will get back to this). This resulted in some of the weirdness from the borders of the universe to leak into its home planet. NOT A LOT, just the teeniest bit, but this is enough to make the 'blood' of the planet quite powerful as well as all the species a part of it. Crayon's species for example (recognised for their bug-like features and glowing patterns), has very powerful blood, making it, among other things, a really good fuel source.
Blood is. incredibly important to Crayon's species actually, as on top of it being powerful, it also contains all of their memories. This is very important culturally, allowing them to share memories and such. Anyway back to the planet worldbuilding.
Crayon's planet's odd position also meant that it was very isolated and so everyone on it wasn't really involved or aware of the politics of the larger galaxies. Although it did recieve a small amount of space junk and tech, which Crayon would take great joy in rumaging through, building things with what it found. It spent a lot of it's time searching through its findings, imagining the uses for each item, and wishing there was a way it could see it too.
And then it's life is quickly and horrifically ruined when the Evil Space Government (name pending probably forever) find and make plans to harvest Crayon's planet for resources. Because of this, they take Crayon and some others as they want to do tests on the planet's natural species beforehand, in order to gather more data on the environment. This is especially imporant for them because of the strange nature of the planet and the power that comes from that.
SO LIFE SUCKS BEING A LAB RAT!!! When it's taken it doesn't understand why. Their planet wasn't even aware of the wider galaxy, they dont speak the language, they dont know who these people are or why they're hurting it for seemingly no reason. The people researching it, they were cruel but they werent malicious. They were very cold and clinical and so they wouldnt really react much to anything crayon did or tried to commuicate to them, unless it was obstructing their work (their work was removing its limbs and reattaching them and extracting its blood and seeing whats its made out of. yay)
It doesn't want to just give up, but over time it starts to withdraw on itself a lot. It makes one friend, a bug like them, called circuit, who is in a cell near them. The two of them manage to keep eachother grounded somewhat, reminding eachother of things they forget as more and more of their blood. their blood which contains all their memories and is a great fuel for starships. is taken. At some point, circuit mamages to squirrel away some materials, and makes them both small light communicators, so that they could know if the other was alive if they were ever seperated.
One day one of the others in a cell near to it doesn't return and realising they need to do something or it will be too late, they make a plan with Circuit to escape. This ends up going very poorly, with crayon getting half blown up and cast off into space seperated from Circuit (who also managed to escape through one of the escape pods)
It's here, half-dead and body exploded, where its found by what later becomes its crew.
When Crayon wakes up, When it wakes up, most of its body is metal, which, it isn't thrilled about. It doesn't know who these outsiders are, and is very scared about the blood it lost. It later remakes the limbs it loses in the explosion with metal. Its metal arm is powered by its blood and its able to switch it out for arms with differnt functions.
When it wakes up, its very distrusting but gradually warms up to them. After learning a bit of common, it convinces them to take them home. At this point crayon doesn't really know how long they've been away, they remember so little but it wants to go home so very badly. However when they get there, the ESG had already gone through with its plan and their planet is practically in ruins, being completely taken over
Nowhere to return to crayon decides to stay with on the Wayard Voyager for a little longer, in the hopes of finding circuit, who they are slowly losing hope is alive.

- It can curl into a ball like a woodlouse and roll around.
- circuit and crayon made communicaters when they were trapped so that they'd know if the other was alive. Without it, i think crayon would have doubted circuit was real. its lost so many memories it doesn't know what's true anymore. When they escaped, circuit's one got damaged, and it hasn't lit up in a long, long time.
- Its tries to draw circuit a lot but it can never get their face quite right, can't remember. It makes them angry
- It likes to hide in the vents (the rest of the crew can't get in there)
- Its very runt just roll with it coded and agent love from hit podcast find us alive coded

When they're found and saved by elysia the only experince theyve had with Outsiders is the evil space governemnt. even if they had somewhere else to go (they dont) they're incredibly injured. They are once again trapped in a strange environemnt they dont understand and so is very suspious of everyone. it will bite if you get too close.
Over time it slowly warms up to the crew, starts to learn more of their language, convinces elysia to take them home which obviosuly doesn't work out. Its still untrusting, still expecting something bad. but it starts to gain back a lot of its enthusiasm. When its comfortable again it can be quite loud and excitable (especially if you get it started on certain topics) which may or may not be endearing depending on who you ask
Despite this, its also very opinionated and so i think it would also get into Fights a lot. Now it's in a position to be able to defend itself it refuses to let itself be pushed around. It hates being looked down on, being seen as something smaller, lesser (bad memories), which lots of people do because of its appearence. They think its stupid. its not. At first it tries to compensate by making weapons for its cyborg half. people take you a bit more seriosuly if you ahve a chainsaw for a hand!!! (and also its not going to let itself be defenseless ever again). But over time it learns to use this to its advantage. being underestimated is useful.
Despite everything its still painfully expressive. its just not used to people.. reacting to those emotions. (when it first joins the crew anyway).
we're still figuring out crew members but its probably closest to elysia (other than circuit. missing friend) and looks up to her an embarrassing amount. She saved their life and they trust her the most. If there's a fight she could probably instantly stop arguements.
At first its Very Unsure about compost, but then it warms up to him and follows him around a lot (especially in those early days where it could only really understand half of what was being said) Later on it likes to help him with his schemes. his scams.
my conclusion after figuring stuff out about crayon is that despite everything (and despite not even really knowing who they are) it remains very unapologeticlaly itself. (despite everything its still you)
