VERYEVYERVYERY IN PROGRESS

PRE-WAYWARD VOYAGER!!!!!

Crayon was born on a small and isolated planet that was mostly covered by colourful rainforest-like biomes. Whilst not being too close to the edge of the universe, (where things start to REALLY unravel) it was in an odd position where the fabric of the universe was quite thin. This resulted in some of the weirdness from the beyond of the universe to leak into its home planet. NOT A LOT, just the teeniest bit, enough to make the 'blood' of the planet quite powerful. This impacted all life there, crayon's species for example (recognised for their bug-like features and glowing patterns), has very powerful blood.

Blood is incredibly important to Crayon's species actually, as on top of it being powerful, it also contains all of their memories. This is very important culturally, allowing them to share memories and such. It's also a really good fuel source. I'm sure you can imagine this isn't going anywhere Great.

So yeah. predictably the ESG arrives prepares to harvest the planet for resources. Before they go full scale on this, they take Crayon and some other species on the planet to conduct some tests before hand. They kidnap them.

And it!! really!! sucks!!! Crayon doesn't know what's happening or why. Their planet wasn't aware of the wider galaxy, they dont speak the language, they dont know who these people are or why they're hurting it for seemingly no reason. The researchers were cruel but they werent malicious. They were very cold and clinical and so they wouldnt really react much to anything crayon did or tried to commuicate to them, unless it was obstructing their work (their work was extracting its blood and figuring out what it's made of. yay)

So. yeah. as it's blood contains it's memories and it's constantly losing. So. Much!! it starts to slip and forget more and more about it's planet, its culture. itself. it's losing bits of itself both physically and otherwise in a way that's so completely out of it's control. and its scary and bad and sucks. Whilst it's trapped it makes one friend, a bug like them, called circuit, who is in a cell near them. The two of them manage to keep eachother grounded somewhat, reminding eachother of things they forget.

At some point, they both mamage to squirrel away some materials, and together make small little commicators which can light up when the other is near, so that they could find eachother if they were ever seperated.

Things get worse and worse. Others in cells nearby don't return and the two decide they need to do something before it's too late. The plan ends up going.. sideways. with crayon getting half-blown up and cast off into space, seperated from Circuit (who also managed to escape through one of the escape pods)

WAYWARD VOYAGER TIME !!!!!

A very, very injured crayon is found and rescued by the wayward voyager (something something marshell and the universe). It lost its left arm and eye in the explosion, as well as its tail. The metal on it's face is to reinforce it's outer shell where it got damaged in the explosion and from where they had to remove it's eye to stop it becoming infected. So it's in!! a lot of pain!!!

It's been tampered with, without it's consent, without even knowing. It doesn't know how much blood it lost, doesn't know how much it forgot. Once again its trapped in a strange environment, with strangers it cannot understand. Only this time, there's no circuit, no others like them.

The only experience Crayon has had with Outsides before meeting the crew was with the ESG. not a great first experience!!

It's untrusting and defensive, biting at anymore who gets too close. It switches between freezing up in fear and trying to (not very well) fight back. It's sick of just Letting Things happen to it. It already feels half dead it wants to fight back whilst it feels it still can (but it can also . barely walk!!! its in. so much pain!!)

But gradually and slowly, it starts to warm up to the rest of the crew, stops ignoring their attempts to communicate with it. It already picked up a bit of Common from it's time aboard the ESG ship, but it starts to piece together more of their language. Gives them a pronouncable name they can call it by (crayon sounded very scary and ferocious at the time.) as it's own language is... less easily replicated (it can't even be sure that the name they remember was their original one anyway).

Of course, it doesn't want to admit to itself that it actually.. likes this new crew though. It's only talking to them so it can "trick" them into taking it home again. Then it never wants to see them ever again. Which to be fair, would have been it's ideal plan. except. of course when it does convince Elysia to take it back, there is no home to return to, the planet is in ruins, taken over by the ESG.

It stays on the voyager (because where else could it even go) and tries to convince itself that it will be temporary, that it will find circuit and everything will be okay. Circuit never responds on their little communicator, it's only sign that Circuit was even real to begin with.

Now it can defend itself, is with people who actually react to the things it says, it refuses to let itself be pushed around. It's very opinionated over things that often it doesn't even care about that much. It hates being looked down upon, as something smaller, lesser, which lots of people end up doing because of it's appearance. They think its stupid, its Not Stupid. It will show them. It makes big scary looking arms for the one it's lost, which are honestly more inconvient, hard to move, and slow it down more than anything (it does make some better ones later on though.) but even so people take you a bit more seriosuly if you have a chainsaw for a hand!!!

It's loud and annoying and takes up space now that it knows that it can whilst also being scared of this and freezing up when someone gets too close. It's emotions swing very wildly back and forth. It will be fine one minute and then honestly just like. really mean the next. It loves the crew it hates them it wants to go home, they're its family. It doesn't remeber it's family. It hates being alone with it's thoughts, it wants to be left alone in it's room Forever.

At somepoint it gets Elysia to teach it how to fight. (I'll write more about the rest of the crew later but it very much looks up to elysia. she's so cool and powerful and also the captain and is really nice to it and saved it's life) Which may go wrong I'm still thinking on it, but um isat bonnie quest if you know in stars and time :heart:

Because for all the bravado that Crayon has it's also. very scared of combat. On top of being so mcuh weaker than it used to be, it's already lots so much of itself it is so scared of loosing more blood (losing more memories) that more often than not it ends up freezing up in fear. I think eventaully Elysia talks to it about this.. prehaps when it asks her to teach it how to fight, and helps it learn that it can defend itself (and everyone else!) through other means that don't just rely on brute strength.

FUN FACTS WITH CRAYON!!!!!!!!

• It can roll up into a ball like a woodlouse and loves scurrying around the vents (the rest of the crew can't get there)
• It loves the rain and big plants that remind it of it's home. And also dinosaurs.
• It's also very musical and loves playing different instruments, especially ones it can move around whilst playing (music was a very big thing back on its home planet)(more on this later probably)
• It likes to hide in the vents (the rest of the crew can't get in there)
• It says crab every other sentence (swear word) (bonnie isat)
